Pharmedi was first held in 2006 with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and in cooperation with domestic and international companies. It has become an annual event at which healthcare specialists, manufacturers and importers meet. It has run for seventeen years, seven of them within the Ministry of Industry and Trade's national trade promotion programme.

The show brings together current technology and technique in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and healthcare services, with products from companies and investors working in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and related fields.
The Ministry of Health recognises ADPEX JSC as organiser, working with the Vietnam Pharmaceutical Companies Association and Vimedimex Vietnam, which together have run several editions of the exhibition in past years.
More than 800 booths from leading brands in Vietnam, alongside groups and companies from Germany, South Korea, Turkey, China, Pakistan, India, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
This 18th edition expects more than 10,000 trade attendees from medical equipment, pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment companies.
